Although we are in September and paddle legend Jim Kaufman believes that “September is still golf season,” twenty teams disagree and will be playing mixed paddle in less than 24 hours at the War at the Shore in Wall Township, New Jersey.
The draw features one of the top mixed doubles teams in the country, Andrea Noyes and Mike Atkinson, and Women’s National Runner-up last season, Liz Jaffe. Liz will be playing with local paddle ace Mark Ruppert.
Number 1 seeds and Number 5 in the APTA National Mixed rankings, Andrea and Mike will try to improve their result from last year when they fell in the semis to Kerri Delmonico and Ray Crosta. Kerri and Ray will not be playing this year. Unfortunately, champions in 2010 Bobo Delaney and John Milbank will not be playing either.
The tourney will be played tomorrow Saturday at the Atlantic Club and the Rumson Country Club. Matches are scheduled to begin as early as 8:45am. To see the draw click here.
