Wee Burn Country Club’s Platform Tennis Committee and several local Fairfield County clubs are sponsoring the first annual “Callaway Cup,” a one-day tournament honoring the paddle legacy of Robert “Bob” Callaway. The tournament will be held on Sunday, October 7th and will include both a men’s and women’s 32 team draw.
This will be the first big tournament of the Fall and a great opportunity to kick off the paddle season. Bob will be the honorary chairman of the Callaway Cup.
Bob Callaway started playing “paddle” in 1963 and has taught the game for over 35 years. He is a former National Senior Champion, a founding member of the American Professional Platform Tennis Association and a former officer of the USA Professional Platform Tennis Association. He has taught players who have won over 60 National Platform Tennis Championships. Bob has also authored the book Platform Tennis, published in 1975, and has written numerous articles for Platform Tennis Magazine.
