Cynthia Dardis and Amy Shay made the trip to Windy City several times but never made it past the semifinals. This time things were different. They are coming back home with the title at the 2011 Women’s Chicago Charities. On their way to victory they only dropped a set in the final match versus Lauren Mandell and Gerry Viant with scores of 7-6, 6-7, 6-3.

In Chicago, Cynthia and Amy showed why they are the best team in the country. Although their current APTA ranking marks they are in the 2nd spot behind Cottingham-Hayward, we may soon see them back on top after the new rankings are released.

The Connecticut residents have finished in the top 4 in the country the last four years. They have won all the major tournaments in the country except one: Nationals Women’s Open. Perhaps it is time to show that they can also win at the big stage. Both Cynthia and Amy know they have the experience and have beaten all the best teams this last few days in Chicago. The entire season is ahead and Nationals will be around the corner form their houses.

The season just began but Dardis-Shay showed everyone that are now the team to beat. For complete results on the 2011 Women’s Chicago Charities click here.
