Hall of famer Cindy Prendergast and Lauren Zink won their second National title together as they steam rolled their opponents. In today’s final, Cindy and Lauren, who were playing their 6th final together, beat the Cinderella of the tourney: unseeded Liz Jaffe and Lisa Rudloff. They won 6-2, 6-1 in less than one hour.Cindy and Lauren (12 seeds) conquered Chicago without dropping a set. They had wins over Cottingham-Hayward (5) in the semis, Noyes-Takach (16) in the quarters, and Delaney-Mangan (8) in the round 16s.Liz and Lisa also had a great tourney but ran out of gas in the final and their lack of experience was a factor that their opponents knew they had to take advantage of. However, their talent and drives took them to the final without dropping a set with wins over Doten-Nusslock (9) in the semis, Climo-McNitt (11) in the quarters, and Delmonico-Main (2) in the round of 16s.Cindy and Lauren displayed great tactics and played almost errorless. Cindy’s lobs and consistent play complemented Lauren’s precise drives all throughout the tournament.
