That was the quote that Tournament Director, Jim McCready, was heard saying to the champions and runner-ups after the final. Bobo Delany and Steve DeRose fought a 3 hrs battle to beat Cooey Lyon and Juan Arraya by scores of 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 and are now the 2011 Mixed Doubles National Champions.Bobo and Steve had another straight sets win to make it to the last match of the tourney. Ana Brzova and Mike Gillespie could not keep up with Bobo’s consistency and Steve unbelievable touch at the net. A 6-1, 6-3 score put them in the final and now wait and watch the other semis. In the other semis, we probably witnessed the two best first year tournament players in years. Viki Stoklasova and Sebastian Bredberg, had one match point at when Sebastian was serving at 6-3, 5-4 and 40-30. Juan Arraya made the return and won the point.

Juan later claimed that “this was the best return that I have ever hit.”

That was the first time in the tournament that Sebastian got his serve broken. Cooey and Juan ended up winning the set by 7-5 and then continued battling and took the match in the third set tie-breaker.This was the 5th National Mixed title for Bobo and he first one for Steve.
