Although “summer” paddle makes it a year-round sport, the Slow & Low Classic is the “unofficial” kick-off on the APTA calendar. The event was also able to raise money for both the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and the American Liver Foundation.When it came down to playing paddle, two youngsters that we may see more often reaching the final stages at big tournaments came out on top. Main Draw Champions John Hughes and Nick Mazzarese defeated Brad Easterbrook and BJ Paret by 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Other winners include:
- Consolation: Bob Morse – Felix Yamasato def. Mike McCann – Troy Pinto 2-6, 6-1, 7-5
- Reprieve: John Salerno – Marc Nicolet def. Allyn Michalek – Adam Michalek 6-4, 6-4
- Consolation Reprieve: Gaynor Brennan – Marc Powers def. Harry Demott – Justin Campbell 6-4, 3-6, 7-5
