Newsflash Alert: The Greenwich Country Club will host the 2014 Mixed and Husband/Wife Nationals.
Besides the fact that both tournaments will be played for the first time in Greenwich, CT the surprise that the APTA had up their sleeve is that next season these two tournaments will be played two weeks after the Men’s and Women’s Nationals. The Mixed and the Husband/Wife Nationals are usually played two weeks before “The Nationals.”
One of the reasons why the date changed is probably the believe that the paddle season is getting longer and longer. Some hard core paddle players actually play paddle year round. Why not, right?
The dates of the tournament will be March 21st for the Husband/Wife and March 22nd-23rd for the Mixed. Players will have the chance to play at The Greenwich Country Club, that is home to one of the most beautiful paddle huts in the North East.
After playing paddle, out of towners will have the chance to check out Greenwich Avenue (the Rodeo Drive of the East Coast), where police officers direct traffic around the clock.
Although in July 2005, CNN/Money and Money Magazine ranked Greenwich 1st on its list of the 100 Best Places to Live in the United States, Greenwich still maintains a small-town feel and will be the perfect host for the both events.
