Played the same weekend as Indy, the Lehigh Valley Classic has established itself as the last tune-up before Nationals in the men’s tour. Stronger than ever, this year the draw included 11 players in the top 11, and that is not counting Cosimano-LeFevre, who will be top 15 after their win yesterday.

On their win to the final, Nathan and Anthony defeated Grangeiro and Max LePivert in a close 7-6, 6-4 in the 16s to later beat defending champs Falatek-Najdek 6-4, 6-2. In the semis they took care of Lennart Jonason and Martin “Cinderella” Bostrom 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 to face Juan Arraya and Mike Stulac in the final match where the 2013 champs won by scores of 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. Their win makes it the first win this season by two Region 1 players.
This was LeFevre’s second Lehigh title as he won the tournament back in 2010 when he also defeated Stulac in the final. For Cosimano this was his first NRT win since he won Short Hills back in 2009 with David Caldwell.
One could argue that in 2013 there are so many good teams all over that there are not really that many upsets anymore but Lehigh proved the contrary… and we are not talking about the Cosimano-LeFevre win. In the round of 16s, both Kahler-Riva and Bredberg-Wilkinson, #7 and #11 in the APTA Ranking, went down to Steve Hall – Pat Nowlan Jr (not ranked) and Tommy Croker – Juan Jaysingh (#68) respectively.
