We are not talking about MTV’s Jersey Shore, where Snooki, Pauly D and Mike “The Situation” are the big starts. Platform tennis attention will be at the Shore CURE. The 2nd annual charity event will feature a small size “Professional” draw with 6 of the top 17 teams in the nation, including RED HOT Drew Broderick and Chris Gambino, and 2011 National Champions Mark Parsons and Mike Stulac.
The Shore CURE tournament began last year and it was a huge success. Fundraising efforts reached over $20,000 for two local charities, Cancer Support Community (The Diney Goldsmith Center) and the Cristine Meredith Miele Foundation. This tournament is an unique event because besides the men’s and women’s 32-team draws there is also a men’s professional draw. The men’s and women’s open draws take place during the day on Saturday, with finals to be played on Sunday. The Men’s Professional event will take place on Saturday night starting at 5:30pm. The tournament party includes a band, food, drinks, and a live and silent auction.
Top teams participating in the Men’s Professional draw are as follows:
- Mark Parsons – Mike Stulac
- Drew Broderick – Chris Gambino
- Drew Eberly – Peter Berka
- Steve DeRose – Jon Lubow
- Anthony Cosimano – Steve Haller
- Nathan LeFevre – Patricio Misitrano
- Sebastian Bredberg – George Wilkinson
- Guy Moore – Brian O’Connor
The Shore CURE will be hosted by Navesink Country Club. Broderick-Gambino will be defending last year title. It will be exactly one year since the day they played for the first time as a team. Can they repeat?
