Do you know what a marathon is? If you read Wikipedia, you will learn that the marathon is a long-distance running event with an official distance of 42.195 kilometres (26 miles and 385 yards), that is usually run as a road race. What do marathons have to do with paddle? Two things: You have to be very patient to do both and also in 16 days the Paddle Against Hunger Marathon will raise funds for the Bridgeport Rescue Mission when they “run” a 24-hrs paddle marathon.
The event will take place from 6:00pm on Friday, October 21st to Saturday, October 22nd at The Patterson Club, in Fairfield, Connecticut. At least one of the club’s four paddle courts will be in use at all times. Some of the top players in the APTA ranking, who are also Fairfield County residents, may play and make a special appearance.
The Bridgeport Rescue Mission provides meals and shelter to some of the neediest individuals in Fairfield County and gives nearly 40,000 meals per month to its residents, guests and struggling families in the community.
