Hosted at Greenville Country Club in Delaware, in a 32 team draw, The Delaware Nationals had one of its deepest Regional draws in recent memory. The seeds were set and the draw was pulled only to see some very tough round of 16’s battle it out.

The first upset happened when returning player Steve Beers and partner Matt Kochis took out the 5th seed and then to set a quarters against no 2 seed Tom Croker and Juan Jaysingh.

The Quarte Finals round  saw some of the most compelling/long competitive matches. Reniger/Hocker defeated long term rivals Peppiatt/Eger 6-4, 7-5 in a 2 1/2 hour marathon. On the court next to them, Mark Holtshneider and Ted Easter lost in a tight 3rd set to Clevelands, Todd Wojtowski and Eric Miller.

With the other semi finalists set, 2009 Champion Scott Freund and  Trevor Spracklin (Washington), took down Reniger/Hocker 6-4, 7-5… to set up a final against 2010 Champion Tommy Croker and Juan Jaysingh who eked out the Cleveland boys in another thrilling match.

It was Juan Jaysingh’s day!! He was on! And as Tommy Croker put it “he could not miss if he tried”…That was also reiterated by their opponents in the final. Congrats.

Finally the day was at an end with the last 12 beat up, tired, sore, but still energetic gents from Cleveland, Delaware, Washington, Virginia, Maryland, and Philadelphia toasting over a few glasses of wine and mugs of beer, finishing off the great spread that Greenville Country Club once again provided, talking of the camaraderie in the game of paddle.

But it must be noted that it was discussed that the Photo of 2009 Champions Freund/Spracklin and runners up Steve Reniger and Andrew Hocker needs to be taken off the wall and replaced by a profile photo of Juan holding his newly inked plastic 20oz Champions Cup!!!
