The Cherry Valley Club is a private membership, 85-year-old golf and racquets club with over 730 members. Garden City is located in Central Nassau County, 20 miles east ofNew York City, onLong Island.

The Club facilities include a first class 18 hole golf course (Defraud Emmet design), practice range, six red clay tennis courts with a tennis pavilion, four platform tennis courts with a platform hut, a main clubhouse featuring first class amenities, locker facilities, ballroom seating for up to 275 people, plus a grill and a club dining room and bar accommodating another 200 people. The golf course is open twelve months a year, the clubhouse eleven months with most revenues generated from member and member sponsored related functions.

The full time Head Racquets Professional is responsible for the overall racquets program and related activities and business including supervising all racquets play, supervising personnel such as assistant professionals, shop personnel and court maintenance staff. The candidate will provide competent racquets instruction for all age groups and levels of play. The candidate will enthusiastically encourage racquets participation by planning tournaments and events to promote the sports while maintaining good fellowship within the membership.

Additional duties include, but not limited to, maintaining the tennis courts, platform courts, tennis pavilion and platform hut and pro shop, assisting the GM and CFO in the preparation and implementation of an annual operating budget, maintaining a first class reputable pro shop with quality merchandise and services.

The Head Racquets Professional reports directly to the General Manager. The successful candidate must be able to market the club and him/her self to the members and clients through polished communications skills. Applicant should be outgoing with strong “people skills” and extremely organized. Appropriate certifications in tennis (USPTA) and platform tennis (PPTA) are considered a plus.
