Jerry Albrikes and Jeff Morneau don’t need that much practice together. Jerry moved to South Carolina, a state that unfortunately doesn’t have paddle courts. Jeff doesn’t really practice that much and would never work on his screens shots with his partner during the week. They step on the court and are all business. This afternoon, in a very close match, they beat Johan DuRandt and Karl Levanat by 7-6, 6-7, 6-4.

Both teams reached the final match without losing a set. DuRandt-Levanat beat Anton Mavrin and Patricio Misitrano 6-2, 6-3. The first set was as fast as Johan’s drives but the second set was much closer. In the end, and after their sixth match point, the South African duo was able to close the deal. In the second semis Albrikes-Morneau beat Matt Porter and Karl Gregor 7-5, 7-5 in a very even match.

The Men’s Connecticut Classic was the third President’s Cup Qualifier tournament of the season for Region 2. Although, the draw size was smaller than previous years, the level of  play was excellent and players and fans went home with the smile on their face. We have pictures to prove it!
